Wedding F.A.Q. - Frequently Asked Questions

When should we reserve our Disc Jockey?
The Sooner the better! There are only 28 main days in Wedding Season and thousands of Weddings/Stag n' Does. We suggest contacting Flashpoint Productions as soon as pertinent details of the Wedding becomes available such as the Date and Location to ensure availability and assignment of the Disc Jockey most suitable for your Special Day. Peak seasons occur between mid April to end of October but don't forget that in the middle of November to end of December is the season for Holiday Parties.

How is the selection of the Disc Jockey made?
Your Flashpoint Events Coordinator will work closely with you and help you through your Wedding Dance Planner. It is the job of your Events Coordinator to learn more about you and what you desire. They are there to help you select those special songs and finalize all the details of your ceremony and/or reception. The criteria includes the type of event, the mood you hope to create at your event, the level of interaction required on the part of the Disc Jockey, and, of course, the musical interests of you and your invited guests. We then draw upon our large staff of employed professional and experienced Disc Jockeys to select the one just right for you. Of course, you may also request a specific Disc Jockey.

The week prior to your special day, your Flashpoint Productions Disc Jockey will make a confidence call and review everything on your Flashpoint Productions customized Wedding Dance Planner. The discussion creates the perfect opportunity to review last minute arrangments and ensures effective communication between you and your Disc Jockey and ultimately, your confidence in his or her abilities. you are also welcome to meet the disc jockey at our office and showroom at a suitable time for you and the disc jockey.

What will the Disc Jockey Play? Do you take requests?
We are excited to offer you the Interactive Music Request System. This online tool is free for all of our customers and allows you and your guests to give song suggestions, of course the bride and groom have the final say in what does, and does not, get played.

We will happily work with any requests we receive both prior to and during your Wedding Day. The music that is played depends on the particular Wedding. With Flashpoint Porductions, we have the ability to personally select the DJ that best suits your needs. The music will reflect the atmosphere you want as well as the requests of you and your invited guests. All of our Disc Jockeys are well trained to let the music speak for itself or creat a highly energized party! In any situation all of our staff carry comprehensive music selection.

What does the Disc Jockey wear?
Our Disc Jockeys are very presentable in proper attire from shirt & tie, suit or tuxedo, vest & tie. Should you desire some other form of attire, just let us know in advance and we will be happy to accommodate your needs.

Do we provide a meal for our Disc Jockey?
It is not necessary to provide a meal for your Disc Jockey, however a meal is greatly appreciated should you choose to provide one (please advises us in advance).

When does the Disc Jockey arrive?
Your Disc Jockey will arrive approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour prior to the actual start time as notated on the entertainment agreement in order to set up and test the equipment. Additional set up time may be required if lighting or other special effects are involved. Our fees include the set up and tear down of equipment.

I don't see a package that suits my needs, what can you do for me?
If we don't have a package that fits what you're looking for, just let us know and we can create a custom package to meet your specific requirements.

How far do you travel?
Flashpoint Productions performs out of numerous locations with a large radius around each area, therefore, there is no mileage fee or setup fee.

Are you insured and licensed?
We are fully insured and licensed by the A.V.L.A. (Audio-Video Licensing Agency). We are also members of the Better Business Bureau, CDJA and CODJA.

What is a SOCAN Fee?
The SOCAN Fee is a performance license under the Copyright Act and deals with functions where music is being used for any form of entertainment. This license is normally paid for by you or included in the "hall" rental for your function but some hotels are choosing to expose this license requirement now to their renters, and asking for the fee in addition to the hall rental fee.

How do we go about booking? Is there a deposit?
In order to guarantee your reservation with Flashpoint Productions, a written Entertainment Agreement Contract is provided and a deposit is required. We offer a few different options.
Option #1 - $250 retainer with the remainder payable two weeks prior to the event day
