IPod Vs. DJs

In our world today, people use their iPods or mp3 players for just about anything at school, at work, while you’re jogging, while you’re cleaning your house and for many other things. It seems common now, more than ever that people are using their iPods when they have parties. Using your iPod for a small get together makes sense, but does it? An iPod cannot mix music or read how your guests are going to react. An iPod cannot troubleshoot if the equipment breaks down or take requests from guests that night. An iPod just plays music, a DJ does this as well as provides the entertainment.

When you’re having a wedding, stag and doe, fundraiser or any other kind of event, it seems reasonable to hire someone to provide your party with entertainment. If you’re using an iPod at your wedding, you may run into a few complications. The first dance… you would have to time it to start at the right time. Sometimes the wrong song can be put on a play list and this could throw off your guests. Your wedding night is a night to enjoy and celebrate, and you shouldn’t have to worry about what song is going to come on next and how good it will sound.

When you have a DJ, you are ensured a night of enjoyment. DJs are to provide you with a worry free atmosphere. They will have a list of the songs that you want played as well as the most important songs of the evening. A DJ is also an MC. Can your mp3 player do that?

It’s very important to have good quality music at your event, whatever it may be. You want to ensure that not only your guests, but that you have a great night! So next time you’re having a party, keep your iPod for your jog, and book with Flashpoint Productions!

Flashpoint’s Mobile Photobooth

For the past few months I have been a co op student here at Flashpoint Productions. At our school towards the end of the semester, we have what is called a “Co Op Fair”. This is where we create poster boards filled with information about our placement and have students, teachers, parents and employers come by and take a look at some of them. To a lot of people, the co op fair can be a very boring, 5 hours of standing by your cardboard project while people come by and ask you questions about your placement.

I was very fortunate to have the Flashpoint Photobooth present at my Co Op Fair. Let me tell you, it drew a lot of attention to my project. There was a line up for a good two hours, where students waited to have their pictures taken. It was a really great experience. A good part of the school has been talking about it for the past few days. It was a lot of fun interacting with everyone, and I know for a fact that everyone who was a part of it, had a great time. The use of the prop box that was filled with hats, glasses and scarves was really fun. I am so happy with the way everything turned out and it made my project a success. I even overheard a couple of students say, “I wish we had this Photobooth at our prom this year”.

I think that the Photobooth is a great idea for all events. For a prom or graduation, this could be one of the last times that you can be all together with your friends, so why not take advantage of it?

So book the Photobooth with Flashpoint Productions! Your high school’s will really enjoy it!

Wedding TV Shows

In today’s generation there are so many television shows about weddings, including planning shows, dress buying, and picking out the right cake. I believe that with all these shows, it gives newlyweds an idea of what they have to look forward to.

Purchasing a wedding dress seems like it would be a very stressful situation. You have to find the perfect dress and you probably won’t find it at the first store you go to. It takes time, and a lot of patience. Most importantly, with buying a wedding dress, you have to have a budget. If a bride’s budget is $5,000 and you fall in love with a dress that is $10,000, you might run into some issues. Always be sure to bring people with you that will help you decide on the right dress. There’s nothing worse than going shopping for an event, and ladies will understand this, and not having someone to tell you whether or not your outfit looks great!

Picking out the right cake is also a big job. You go into a cake shop and give the baker your designs and ideas of what you want it to look like. The sampling of the cake is always nice; who doesn’t like free cake? The only thing you have to think about is entrusting this baker to make your cake exactly how you want it, and ensuring that it will be ready on time. I’m sure you’ve seen an episode on “Cake Boss” when the pressure is on and they’re afraid that the cake won’t be ready in time. That would be the worst thing to have to deal with. So book early! Make sure you give the bakery enough time to work out the design of your cake!

The newest Wedding Show is called “Four Weddings”, where four brides go to each other’s weddings and they rate their ceremony, dress, the food, the crowd, music, and the location, etc. Towards the end of the show, all the weddings are compared and who ever had the best wedding wins a honeymoon trip to somewhere like the Bahamas or Mexico. It’s a really neat idea, but I think it would be unfortunate for the other brides to think, “what was wrong with my wedding?”. I feel bad for the brides who don’t win because then they have to pay for their own honeymoon!

This is the biggest trend for any bride and it is a great idea to have these shows. It can prepare bride’s and even groom’s for what they are about to encounter when the begin planning their wedding!

The Wedding Cake

A key factor in a wedding includes the wedding cake, the most delicious part of the wedding of course! However it can also be a very expensive part of the event. There are so many different kinds of cake but there is also a lot to consider. What flavor? How many tiers? What is a tier? What design will go on the cake? What colors will be used? Is there a theme? Will it burn a hole in my pocket? How many guests… how many pieces of cake?

A wedding cake can describe a couple in many ways. A simple and classic white vanilla cake can represent a simple yet elegant event. A themed wedding cake can represent a couple with a lot of personality and originality. A wedding cake with 5 tiers with beautiful edible flowers along the side of the cake can represent an extravagant couple. Although, a cake with many tiers could also indicate that they’re simply considering how many people are at the wedding and how many pieces of cake they’ll actually need. Sometimes simplicity is the best way to go.

Something new that I have been seeing a lot are cupcakes. They put a cluster of cupcakes together in neat way where it looks like a cake. There are many original ways to go about planning and purchasing your wedding cake. I think it looks nice when the cake coordinates with the wedding whether it matches the flowers in the wedding, matches the color of the bridesmaids dresses or if it goes along with the theme of the wedding.

With all the new cake shows on TLC like “Cake Boss”, “Ultimate Cake Off” and “Little Chocolatiers”, this gives people a broader look on different wedding cakes. These shows will probably help people to understand what wedding cake lingo is all about and give them a better idea of what cake will suit them best!

Celebrity Weddings

In July of 2007, the biggest wedding of the year took place in Paris, France. Eva Longoria and Tony Parker got married in a 17th century castle that is called Le Chateau of Vaux le Vicomte. Their wedding was kept very quiet to ensure the press did not interfere. It was heard that they were having their wedding in Paris when someone discovered that their wedding cake was being made. It was a 5 tier cake; a vanilla bean pound cake, filled with raspberry and white butter cream. Can you say “yum”?

Their wedding was the most talked about wedding of the year. It was rumored that a magazine would give a photographer 2 million dollars to get a picture of them. Their wedding probably cost that much, if not more! They flew 200 guests to Paris as well as paid for their hotel room while they stayed for the weekend.

Eva and Tony’s wedding was very exclusive. There were not very many pictures from the event, and clearly people were wanting those pictures very badly. It’s nice that they didn’t advertise their wedding like many celebrities do. The wedding was filled with strictly their family and closest friends. When a couple is so in love and all they want is to have the perfect wedding day, they don’t need to have it leaked to the paparazzi. It’s unnecessary. Why would a person want that kind of chaos on such an important day?

I think it’s perfect that they chose to have their wedding out of their country with just family and friends. Who else would you want to spend your wedding day with? If they have the money to take those people away with them to share this special day, why not?

Themed Weddings

When I think of themed weddings I usually picture weddings that are planned in the winter or summer. As I searched online trying to get an idea of what other people classify as a themed wedding I started to see things like Star Wars themes, Lord of the Rings, zombies, and even Hello Kitty! It seems a little outrageous, but at the same time it’s really neat. If you think about it, having a themed wedding describes your personality and the relationship that you share together. I think that showing your personality in such ways shows how unique that they truly are.

Of course, traditional weddings are very classy and simple. It may seem rather odd to have a themed wedding, but by doing this, you can get all of your guests to be involved in the wedding. This is an interactive and unique way to make the ‘classic’ wedding, into an extravagant event.

It might be more expensive to do this kind of event, but if you think about it, imagine the memories. “I got married as superman”. How many people can say that? You have to be very passionate to be able to turn your wedding day almost into a movie set. Every person is in fact different and has different interests and passions. When a couple comes together and they share a passion, it is important for them to express what they are so passionate about. It’s really great to know that people are going outside of the box and being original rather than having the classic wedding.

Why is the First Dance important?

Think back to the moment you met your sweetheart, or the moment that you knew you were in love and that this was the person you wanted to spend and the rest of your life with. Think of that moment, and then pick the perfect song that matches exactly what that moment felt like. The words should make you think of that person, and the love that you share with that person. This first dance is important because it’s the first thing that the two of you do together as husband and wife. It should be special and romantic. It should show to your friends and family the unity that you two now share until death do you part!

I find it to be very romantic, the idea of having the first dance with your significant other. When you have that perfect song that just explains the love that is shared between the two people, it’s very special, not only for the couple, but for their family and friends to see as well.

The father daughter, and mother and son dances are very important too. They express the love that has been shared between the two, and their relationship that was built over the years as they were growing up. They overcame struggles and hardships as well as good and exciting times. During this day, the bride’s father is giving her away to her new husband and the groom’s mother is giving him away to his new wife.

It is a very special day and it’s very important to have just the right songs to express the feelings between the wife and the husband, the mother and son, and the father and daughter on this very big and exciting day.

Flashpoint Photobooth

I guarantee that almost every person has been to a photo booth in the mall and has paid $4.00 for a card of 4 pictures, that have you unprepared in the first one, getting the hang of it in the second one, making a silly face in the third one, then looking confused like, “is it over yet?” in the last one.

Here at Flashpoint Productions we have come out with a new product that ensures entertainment and lasting memories. We bring the photo booth to you and to your event! Whether you’re having a wedding, stag and doe, birthday party, school dance or corporate party, it’s a great way to get people together, and show them having a blast. A great idea for weddings it to have people sit down and take a couple of pictures together, then have their pictures printed out and placed into a book where they sign it and wish the bride and groom the best of luck. You can also use these as wedding favors in a frame provided by us! We also provide silly hats, boas, big goofy glasses and crazy things like that to enhance your photo and really show off how great of a time you and your guests had.

This is such a great way to keep these memories with you for a long time. And to be honest, it’s really affordable to have at your event. It’s a great keepsake for say, prom. Having these pictures with your best friends, showing you guys having a great time, think of the next time you might see them? You may be going off to university or college, and some of your friends might be going to another college, or staying back in high school for another year. This times are precious and the more memories you have, the better.

So when you’re planning your wedding or stag and doe or even that big birthday party, think about the memory keepsakes you could have and how much your guest will appreciate the extra effort you’re putting in to ensure that they have a great time at your event!

Flu VS Nerves?

So FH’s and my wedding is in 9 days. 2 nights ago I woke up after having terrible nightmares (not about the wedding, nothing specific) and a horrible pain in my belly! Could this be the flu, or nerves? I am sure every bride goes through the pre-wedding jitters but I hope that the planning is enjoyable and stress free for everyone… a bride can hope right? If I could do it all over again, I wouldn’t worry about the small stuff. So a couple had to cancel and you already did up the seating chart? Oh well… they will be missed. With one week to go what’s done is done. You can no longer change the venue, or your guest list, or your wedding party, or your linens, etc etc. Just remember that the initial marriage is what is important.

I can say I’m not stressed but anything to me is stressful right now, I’m just used to it! Going through the whole wedding planning process, and now buying a house can be stressful on any newlywed couple. What am I going to do after all of this is finished? I know we will not be having children right away (we now have a puppy who is as high maintenance as they come) and everyone I have talked to has said that I need a hobby. Well, wedding planning has always been my hobby; work has always been my hobby! I think any and every bride needs to take a break away from anything wedding related. A holiday from life is what I am thinking! If it’s your honeymoon that is your holiday, great. If not, just sit back, relax, and laugh about all the stress later.

“Do you want me to tell you something really subversive? Love is everything it’s cracked up to be. That’s why people are so cynical about it. It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is if you don’t risk anything, you risk even more. “

$$MONEY$$

Written: April 3, 2009

Does anyone else worry about money? I groan when I even hear the word. Between getting married, getting a new dog, making car payments, and now attempting to buy a house, money seems to be the only thing on my mind. I have never been very good with budgets, since I was engaged coming right out of college, I always went mad with money since I had no one to take care of other then myself. Now there are 2 of us (3 if you include our little puppy!) which means MORE BILLS! The wedding is costing much more then I expected it would but we haven’t put ourselves into debt doing it, so I suppose that is a good thing. I know many people who had to get loans in order to have the wedding of their dreams.

So now we are going through houses and calling the bank to make sure we are approved, while still getting ready for our wedding which is less than 3 weeks away! Did I say I was stressed out yet?! The only thing that keeps me going is that we are just starting out like any other couple and we won’t buy something we can’t afford. I am sure, just like the craziness in weddings, that every new couple goes through this stress. I was just hoping it wasn’t all at once!

“I can live without money, I cannot live without love.”- Judy Garland
